![]() ![]() Turn on Traktor’s midi clock, if it’s connected properly the drum machine will start playing.A generic midi mapping in the controller manager (Under Device –> Add –> Generic Midi).Open Traktor’s Preferences -> Controller Manager. There are a couple things to setup to send the midi clock from Traktor. With a controller like the Kontrol S4, DJs can run a midi cable from the midi out on the Kontrol S4/Traktor to the midi input of the drum machine. Sync To Midi Clock From DJ Softwareįor DJs that are using Traktor or Ableton they can send the midi clock to the the drum machine. For the most control it’s best to just sync the drum machine manually. Anytime the tempo is changed the midi sync/clock will typically fall out of place and the only way to get them back in sync is to restart the midi clock. The disadvantage of the beat detection/midi sync method is that there’s no manual tempo adjustment. Once it’s connected DJs can send a midi signal from the mixer to the drum machine to sync them up. If the mixer has a midi output then DJs can run a midi cable from the midi output to the midi input of the drum machine. With a mixer like the Pioneer DJM 800/900 the mixer is capable of auto detecting the beat of incoming audio on any of the mixer channels. Using A Mixer With Midi Output And Beat Detection The downside to this method is the drum machine won’t automatically follow any tempo changes in the mix. If the drum machine falls out of time, use the fine tempo knob of the Roland TR-8 to increase/decrease the tempo until the drum machine is in sync. This makes it easier to set the tempo on the drum machine. With DJ software or CDJs, set the tempo of tracks to a whole value (ex. Simply match the tempo of the drum machine to the playing track and start the drum machine in time. Manually syncing a drum machine is the fastest way to get started, no midi clock or midi cable required. Manual Sync – The Old School Way Jeff MIlls playing his signature 909 ![]() Both Traktor and Ableton can send the master clock via midi output. This will make the drum machine a midi slave to the DJ software and it will follow DJ software tempo. ![]() The last way to sync a drum machine is to have a midi signal sent from DJ software on the computer straight into the midi input of the drum machine. The beat detection can detect the tempo from any channel on the mixer and than send the tempo through the midi output to sync the drum machine. The second way is using a mixer that has beat detection and midi output (such as the Pioneer DJM 800 and DJM 900). The first way is to treat the drum machine like a turntable and sync it up manually by increasing/decreasing the tempo until the drum machine is in sync. There are 3 ways to sync up a drum machine to your DJ set. Since the 90s DJs have been running analog synths and drum machines alongside their DJ sets but this concept is still alive and very relevant today. How did DJs keep external machines in sync with their set? Today Ean Golden shares 3 ways to sync up hardware like the Roland TR-8 in your set. Whether it’s with CDJs, Serato, Traktor, you’ll be able to sync up analogue/digital gear with your DJ set and have them sound good together. ![]()

![]() Sure, phat beats play during the setup menus, but once again, it all goes down hill when you step on the court. ![]() The pre game pictures of the rappers are dead on, but once the game play starts, it is easy to confuse Chuck D with Warren G! It seems like the developers just decided to use 2 stock characters, the white guy and the black guy. If Everlast plays ball in real life like he does in this game, Ronald McDonald has a better chance of making it to the NBA! Graphically, it's a mixed bag. So if you picked Sticky Fingaz, you gotta play as Sticky Fingaz the WHOLE GAME! Just plain awful basketball. Players move like the are sliding around on ice, the jump shots have about as much arc as Shaq's free throws, and you can't even switch between defenders. Every player, man or woman, looks the same(except for the white guys). When the game starts though, you can't even distinguish Coolio, and his wild dreads, from Flavor Flav, with his huge alarm clock necklace. Coolio then gets to pick 2 teammates to help him on his ''Fantastic Voyage'' to the pros. For Championship mode, you can either pick a team of rappers, like Public Enemy, or a solo rapper, like Coolio. So if you were hoping to guide Warren G through a 10 year career, going from the LBC to the NBA, you are going to be unhappy, as Rap Jam doesn't sport the franchise option. Who's Onyx? Remember, they did that song "SLAM!" Anyway, you get 2 modes of play, Championship and challenge. There are also rappers from such groups as Naughty By Nature, Public Enemy, House of Pain (White Men CAN Jump!), and Onyx. No, you won't find 2 Pac and Snoop Dogg going head to head with Biggie Smalls and Puffy, but you will see DJ Lethal taking it strong to the hole against Queen Latifah! U-N-I-T-Y! Other rappers include L L Cool J, Coolio, and Warren G. That's right, it's rappers, doing what they do best, HOOPIN! Rap Jam features a bunch of semi-popular rappers. Well, in Rap Jam: Volume One, a big cast of mid 90's rappers take it to the court, and show you what they got. By PooponyourDog | Review Date: JanuSince the beginning of time, rappers have longed to wear the jersey of their favorite NBA team, go man to man against Michael Jordan, and dunk on 7'6'' softy Shawn Bradley. ![]() |
